How to Pre-Register Your Router on Uplink

Uplink is the world’s first decentralized connectivity ecosystem for existing and new internet infrastructure, expanding internet access everywhere. Our platform allows community members to provide connectivity to the network via equipment they already own. If you own a wireless router, you're ready to go!
As part of the Uplink community, you'll earn rewards by providing your router's spare wireless bandwidth to the Uplink network when it goes live. No technical knowledge or specialized equipment is required. Pre-register your router and begin earning points today - it takes only 2 minutes! So, let’s get started.
Your first step: Create an Uplink account.

- Navigate to the Coverage Map at https://explorer.uplink.xyz and click on the “Pre-register your router” button on the left-hand side of the screen or “Login” and “Register” in the upper right-hand corner:
- Either register a new account or sign in to the Uplink platform. You can register under your email address or your Google account, verify your email, and you’re set!
Step 2: Pre-register your router on Uplink!
Router pre-registration plays a crucial role in building the Uplink ecosystem. First, it helps us understand where our community members will be providing connectivity from the moment the Uplink network goes live. Second, it enables us to make the network as hardware-agnostic as possible by understanding your router’s connectivity needs.
- Once signing in or registering, you’ll be automatically navigated back to the explorer.uplink.xyz where you’ll click on the “Pre-register your router” button and proceed to fill in your router’s information. Only the fields with a red asterisk (*) are required for pre-registration; Router name, type of venue and indoor/outdoor selection. Click “Next” once you’ve completed the form.
- Enable sharing your device’s location, this allows automatic input of your exact latitude and longitude. You can also enter an address or drag your pin’s location if it's incorrect on the map. Please ensure you’ve entered the correct location of your routers! When the Uplink App is released in early 2025 and your router’s location is validated and earning daily xps, any router that is located incorrectly will soon after be deleted from the map along with any Uplink points associated with its pre-registration.
- Once submitted, click “Register” and you’re all set!
Understanding the Coverage Map
Now let’s talk about the features of the Coverage Map! We’ll start with the panel on the bottom-left, which refers to the following categories:
- Verified routers are routers which are currently tapped into the Uplink network through such alliances as WBA OpenRoaming and the fact that Uplink is an OpenRoaming IDP and ANP provider. This number will grow as additional verified routers are added to the network and solutions or tools are developed by our team and the community. More info about how community members can bring verified routers into the Uplink network will be shared at a later date.
- Pre-registered routers are the routers pre-registered by community members worldwide. When the Uplink app is released, many of these will become validated routers simply by downloading the Uplink App and connecting to your wireless network.
- My pre-registered routers are routers that you have pre-registered via your account on the Coverage Map. Future updates to the Coverage Map will allow users to manage their devices and delete old routers. Community members can also add and correct router info today which will later be validated through the Uplink App since unvalidated, pre-registered routers will eventually be removed to keep the Coverage Map up to date.
Now let’s navigate to the Surge tab at the top of the screen.
Surge is a way for Uplink to quickly add connectivity in areas in which it is needed. Surge events will last for a limited time, and will provide a large quantity of bonus points to any community members who register routers in the Surge area. Community members who do not live in Surge areas can still benefit by referring others in those areas. We’ll be progressively launching Surge events around the world as time goes on – stay tuned to the Uplink X and Discord for the latest announcements regarding Surge! We are currently promoting a special offering to anyone who has pre-registered in a Surge area, allowing them to also receive Surge bonus points first since they’ve already pre-registered routers there!.
When the network is live, Surge events will launch based on connectivity needs from our partners, enterprises, and more to spur community router registration in specific areas. Community members who either purchase and deploy or add new devices to the Uplink platform in this area will receive certain financial incentives for expanding connectivity in these areas, incentives which will in turn be paid for by the enterprise or partners that require the connectivity. In a way, our current Surge is a direct simulation of when the network goes live, and our key community members are the first beta testers of this feature, earning rewards for participation and activation while we continue to build out the Uplink network and platform.
Join the Uplink Ecosystem and Start Earning!
From here, you can now navigate to the “Go to Dashboard” button in the upper right corner which will automatically sign you in and direct you to portal.uplink.xyz. The dashboard is our main Points and Referrals platform. Here, you can view the points you have earned on the Uplink platform, unlock missions by linking your Discord and X accounts, refer your friends, and more! The platform is currently in beta. We’re adding more functionality on a regular basis. We appreciate everyone in the community for their feedback as we continue to perfect the platform!
