What Is Surge?

Surge events are limited-time opportunities on the Uplink Coverage Map that mark high-demand connectivity areas. When a Surge is active, community members can register, deploy, or connect routers in these designated zones to earn 10x bonus points for a limited period.

Even if you’re not in a Surge area, you can still benefit — by referring others who are. This means anyone, anywhere, can take part in growing the network and shaping the future of decentralized connectivity.

How Surge Works Today

Today, Surge is in its simulation phase, giving early adopters a head start before the full network launch. These early Surge events reward users for helping grow and test the ecosystem, simulating what real enterprise demand will look like in the near future.

The first Surge launched in Buenos Aires, symbolizing the global debut of the Uplink Portal and Explorer at the Avalanche Summit 2024. Since then, we’ve expanded through new partnerships, such as our collaboration with GEODNET, where Uplink community members in Korea and Japan were and are able to register routers in Surge areas and even receive free GEODNET hardware (valued at $700) for rooftop deployments.

This is just the beginning. More partnerships — and more opportunities — are coming.

Why Surge Matters

Once the Uplink network is live, Surge will evolve into a real-time demand system, powered by enterprises, institutions, and partners that need immediate connectivity in specific regions.

These organizations will fund incentives for Uplink Providers (our community) to deploy routers in targeted Surge zones, ensuring faster and smarter coverage expansion. It’s a direct bridge between enterprise demand and community supply — something no other DePIN network has achieved at scale.
